Back or disc repair surgery. This procedure removes a section of bone over the spinal cord as well as material associated with the herniated disc in order to relieve the pressure on the cord.
The spinal cord is not visible on a normal x-ray. Therefore, a special dye must be injected into the spinal fluid. This dye outlines the spinal cord making it visible on x-ray. A myelogram is a very difficult and delicate diagnostic procedure to be performed by a specialist.
